Log 20, Glass Shroom Heads. Finally found the two of you. Man, you guys got far.
Actually we didn’t stray too far off the path; you just kept walking without us.
Huh, must not have noticed that you two were gone.
Yeah you're pretty good at th-
Hopefully, you didn’t find too much trouble while on your own, Farquid. I know I’m supposed to be your bodyguard, but I thought it’d be best to stay close to Ming while she adjusts to this job.
You're fine Droid. That was probably the right call. I didn’t run into anything I couldn’t handle. What about you guys? Anything go wrong?
Nothing’s happened here. Droid and I have just been staring at these shiny-headed guys for a while now.
Oh the glass-shroom heads? I’ve seen them pop up around rivers. The one with the large crown is the alpha.
How do they grow that stuff on them? Glass is a pretty manufactured material.
It’s not glass. Bits of quartz and gold from the prey they eat alloy in the body and grow as calluses along the back. Bodily fluids are what glue the pieces of it together.
They dangerous?
Apex predator of the wetlands. They wait around streams until something gets a drink, then the whole pack goes on the attack and overwhelms the prey.
This one’s a pretty small pack; there’s only five of them.
That’s all they need. They’re fast and those tusks make quick work of any flesh.
Huh, some gnarly stuff.
Yeah. Hey, I’m sorry about hitting you in our last conversation. I know you didn’t ask to be here, and I shouldn’t try to shoo you away.
It’s fine. I pushed a lot of your buttons on purpose, so I was probably asking for it.
I get that you're frustrated; I know you didn’t ask to be here. You just gotta be safer while you're on the planet; I need to do a better job at keeping you safe as well though.
Thanks, I’ll try to be less irritating. I’m actually starting to enjoy this trip; it's not as bad as I thought it’d be. So, where to next?
We keep going west. The wetlands are drying out, meaning we’re entering somewhere new. Folly’s already reported extremely high temperatures, so it may get a bit warm.
Well, I’m no Kalvair, but I’ve done good in sun so far. Let's go.
