Log 30, Victare. My group has met the apex of the dunes, the Victare. Victare are large carnivores that live in caves along the wall; they eat just about anything that approaches them by using a brutal attack method. They spew flames from nozzles on their face at the sand, then smack the heated sand with their leathery tails, sending a scattershot of burning sand at any unfortunate creature in their path. The species is highly territorial and will fight any who comes near their cave or hunting ground. If two Victare meet, they face off with their long necks and hooked tentacles, swinging their heads into each other until one backs down. The species is loud and boisterous, flicking hot sand at creatures on the wall and chasing animals in the dunes. They only quiet down when caring for their young. They’ll find a secluded, hidden spot to lay their eggs, burying them deep in the sand. Multiple mothers lay their eggs in the same spot while a male guards them. The young stay buried for about a month after hatching, then emerge and follow any adult they see, quickly growing into the large, powerful beasts that stalk the desert.
